Founder, Foster Hong Kong; Social Impact Foundation
Hongkonger Yanice Mak is behind social enterprise Foster Hong Kong, which encourages social enterprise development and the idea of global citizenship in Hong Kong and across Asia.
“What we do is to organize a social enterprise marketing internship program for the younger generation, in order to give them opportunities to help spread the social missions of social enterprises and to learn more about current global issues,” she explains.
“I hope to foster our next generation to be global citizens who love and care about our world.”
During one of these programs, interns have the opportunity to work in social enterprises. A social enterprise supporting green movements, for example, helps them understand more about environmental issues.
Besides her work at Foster Hong Kong, Mak also runs Social Impact Foundation, an impact investing organization which provides sustainable capital with the aim of solving social issues around the world.
What does she want to bring to the city with her efforts? “I hope to foster our next generation to be global citizens who love and care about our world.”
Her very first job? “An internship at Gucci.”
Her motivation? “The desire to make this world a better place.”
