Dear Lulu Jeh: What do you think commitment issues really mean? It’s something that gets thrown around a lot and in my dating life, I am trying to figure out what the red flags are and when to throw in the towel. — Dating Around
Dear DA: The dating scene in Hong Kong seems harder and harder to navigate by the minute, what with people coming and going from this transient city constantly. It can be hard to work out exactly where you stand with a potential partner — especially because “labels” on relationships seem to not be en vogue anymore. Am I right?
Relationships are all about compatibility, and without that you have no foundations to build anything on. What’s important is to ensure you and the person you’re dating have similar expectations, and hopes and desires, for what you have in front of you.
If you’re going out with a person who’s telling you that they want to take things to a more serious place, then give it a go. If they’re saying that they don’t want to commit, believe them. It really is that simple!
