Homegrown supermarket brand Wellcome is set to delight Hongkongers with a brand new concept that’s just debuted at Kennedy Town’s Westwood mall. Called Wellcome Fresh, the new supermarket concept is designed to offer an unparalleled grocery experience with 23 meticulously planned themed zones and a profusion of premium, fresh produce sourced from all over the globe. Set across 50,000sqft, the brand new store is the largest Wellcome in Hong Kong and features a plethora of delights.

As the name suggests, Wellcome Fresh specializes in the freshest possible ingredients. Three dedicated zones—Fresh Produce, the Butcher Shop, and the Seafood Zone—are stocked with curated seasonal items sourced from across the globe. Whether it’s tropical fruits from Thailand, French Saveol tomatoes, New Zealand avocados, or Dolci navel oranges from Australia, you’ll find the season’s best produce all year round. In addition, you’ll find live seafood, locally grown organic produce—and even a dedicated Hydroponic zone.

Inspired by the beloved wet markets, butcher delis, and seafood counters of Hong Kong, the Kennedy Town Wellcome Fresh is home to several local culinary experiences. The Butcher Shop is stocked with juicy tranches of locally-farmed black Iberian pork and free-range chicken from Qingyuan hung on iron hooks and labeled with traditional red price tags. All the meat—including wagyu beef, and Kagoshima poussin is organic and additive-free. Nearby, a wet market-like setup allows shoppers to pick up pre-packed bundles of vegetables displayed in small red baskets and further along, the Seafood Zone lets customers select from over 100 types of wild-caught and sustainably-farmed live catch displayed in freshwater tanks.

Sustainable Design
With sustainability a key concern for today’s eco-friendly consumers, the all-new Wellcome Fresh incorporates many environmentally-friendly touches in its design. The bright red floors are made with repurposed glass and mirrors, while trolleys are designed with recycled plastics and take 1/3 less energy to make and transport. Of course, to conserve natural resources, the store only uses energy-efficient LED lighting.
