Have you ever gone to the supermarket or the local wet market, looked at the myriad types of produce available and wondered, “Are these vegetables and fruits actually in season?”
Well, no need to wonder any longer, thanks to a nifty illustrated calendar distributed by local non-profit Slow Food Hong Kong that pretty much sums up the harvest period of the most popular fruits and veggies that can be found — and grown — in Hong Kong. Despite our temperate, sup-tropical climate, turns out there are ideal periods to cook and consume our various freshly grown produce after all. This calendar is a must-have for true foodies, chefs and home cooks alike — basically anyone who appreciates the value of seasonal ingredients.
The calendar is illustrated by fellow Slow Food member Stephanie Fleury, and fact-checked by local organization Plant Right Now. The original calendar can be found here. You can also download the PDF version here. Enjoy!
