Music lovers rejoice! Broadway International Group and Broadway Asia have announced an extended Global Tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s THE SOUND OF MUSIC, which will be opening in Hong Kong on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

This highly anticipated production has been met with great enthusiasm from audiences around the world and has completed successful engagements in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, The Philippines, India, and China.

Now, it is set to premiere at the prestigious Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District, marking the 65th Anniversary of this beloved Broadway classic.

Since the announcement of THE SOUND OF MUSIC’s arrival in Hong Kong, ticket sales have soared, with over 20,000 tickets sold to date. In response to the overwhelming demand, the Producers have extended the run for an additional 24 performances until Sunday, June 9, 2024. This extension provides both local audiences and visitors with the opportunity to experience the magic of this timeless musical.

The Global Tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC is led by an all-Broadway creative team, including three-time Tony Award Winner Jack O’Brien, who serves as the director. O’Brien brings fresh new ideas while staying true to the original framework that has earned this musical long-standing acclaim.

The production features a talented cast, including Natalie Duncan as Maria Rainer, Corey Greenan as Captain Von Trapp, and Lauren Kidwell as Mother Abbess. Audiences can expect to be captivated by the uplifting true story of Maria and her impact on the widowed Captain Von Trapp and his children.

One of the highlights of THE SOUND OF MUSIC is its iconic score, which includes beloved songs such as “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things,” and the title song, “The Sound of Music”.
