Launched last month, The Save Hong Kong F&B Alliance comprises over 600 restaurants representing 10,000 employees looking to protect their businesses and livelihood in the midst of COVID-19, which has resulted in government-mandated temporary reduced capacities and suspensions on selling alcohol in order to reduce the virus’ spread. The public has also, understandably gone out to eat less due to COVID-19 fears, opting to order in or cook at home instead.
All this has had a strain on the local F&B business. The Alliance, which includes Alan Lo, May Chow and Agung Prabowo among its ranks, has launched an initiative called Wipeout 2020 that involves purchasing e-vouchers that can be redeemed at over 200 well-known restaurants across town, including The Pawn, Beef & Liberty and Chachawan.
Diners who purchase these e-vouchers get to enjoy exclusive discounts while supporting local F&B businesses during a trying time. E-vouchers can also be redeemed at a later date, meaning that diners can save them for when they feel more comfortable going out, but restaurants can be buoyed up by the purchases now.
