There’s plenty to see and do in the city, whether you’re a traveller or a local (most likely the latter given the past couple of years we’ve had). Although we’re not renowned for being the romantic region of the world, there is a plethora of activities for couples looking to spice up their relationship. This ranges from a humble day out to an extravagant experience in the clouds that may fare better for bigger gestures of love. Here are some of our top picks of romantic things to do in Hong Kong:

Go for a helicopter ride

We’re kicking off with one of the more splurging options – to say the least. If you’re looking to impress your other half, why not experience a day in the clouds and atop some of the world’s most incredible skyscrapers? Peninsula’s signature ‘flight-seeing tour’ offers pilot commentaries of the areas and takes you on a tour of the city. Other options include additional dining privileges at the hotel for post-helicopter-tour relaxation.

Have a picnic at Peak Garden

There are some truly beautiful spots to picnic at in Hong Kong. Arguably the most pristine one, Peak Garden is a tranquil oasis that sits atop the city’s most expensive neighborhood. The former governor’s gardens makes a pretty backdrop for a romantic homemade feast. Bring your favorite cold cuts and a bottle of bubbly to set the tone with an indulgent spread.

Go rollerblading

If your partner is more into action, rollerblading is a fun activity to get your hearts racing. The city’s largest indoor rollerskating rink in Quarry Bay – Bun’s 2020 – is an ideal spot equipped with everything you need in a retro-inspired setting. Come, whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned expert.

Relax with a couple’s spa day

What’s more relaxing than a spa day? There are so many to choose from but we’re rounding up our favorites including The Mandarin Spa. This hotel spa incorporates traditional Chinese medicine in its practices. Book you and your partner in for one of the couple’s massages in the spa suite for a holistic pampering session. We love the three hour Pure Indulgence treatment – if budget allows.

Go to Hong Kong Disneyland

Unsurprisingly, Hong Kong Disneyland deems a popular spot for couples. Its nostalgic appeal and fairytale feeling makes it a wonderland for a romantic day out. Spend your afternoon strolling the castle grounds, playing games and riding rollercoasters with your beau or belle.

Drink champagne on the Aqua Luna

Enjoy a day out at sea with Aqua Luna, a venture by aqua group. This red sail vessel takes you out to the harbor for a picturesque experience away from the crowds and city bustle. The boat offers different options for your excursion, from dim sum delights to a champagne sundown sail. We would opt for both to soak in the lovey-dovey vibes.

Spend a day at Chi Lin Nunnery

Go for something wholesome like exploring Chi Lin Nunnery, a quiet and beautiful Buddhist monastery in Diamond Hill. It’s inspired by Tang Dynasty architecture and houses its vegetarian restaurant serving some of the most delicious veggie dim sum you can imagine. It’s the ideal space to wander around hand in hand with your partner on a sunny afternoon amid the lush green mountains.

Do a pottery class

Get creativity flowing with your partner. There’s plenty of pottery and ceramics studios in the city so you can find one that fits your preferences the most. Together, you and your lover can even make something unique and fit for a home.
