Dear Lulu Jeh: I have been dating a guy for a few months, and he’s been great to me so far. However, I’ve just found out through the grapevine that he has a history of cheating. They say “once a cheater, always a cheater.” Do I end it now before I fall too deep, or should I ignore his past and focus on our present? — Confused About the Future

Dear CAF: I would say that you should get to know this person on your own before making any judgements.

Rumors are, after all, just rumors. If this person has, as you say, been great to you so far, then why let something you’ve heard on the grapevine ruin what you have?

If you’re really that worried, you should also figure out where the rumors are coming from — salty exes or jealous friends, perhaps.

And if you end it, you should only end it for yourself — not because of anyone else, or what you’ve heard from them.
