K Town has gone from quiet, family-friendly neighborhood to a true hub for food and drink. The proliferation of coffee shops is no surprise, too. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites for the next time you want to hunker down with your laptop to get some work done, or grab a cuppa with friends!

Sitting along the waterfront just a few minutes away from picturesque sites like Sai Wan Swimming Shed and Instagram pier, this fifth location of the popular homegrown coffee shop comprises two stories with plenty of seating — much roomier than some of its other locations, some of which are simple takeout counters. Expect the same sleek, minimal decor and coffee crafted from Hawaii-originated, Discovery Bay-roasted beans.

Shop 4, G/F, Grand Fortune Mansion, 1 Davis Street, Kennedy Town, 2326-4578.

Owned by a former Coffee Academics barista, this hole in the wall takeaway joint specializes in coffee made from Italian-roasted Musetti beans prepared in a hand lever espresso machine. Pair with a homemade cake or a sandwich and you’re good to go.
Shop H, 78-86 Catchick Street, Kennedy Town, 9104-2404.

Lex Coffee

Part high-end cafe, part art space, Lex Coffee is a stylish establishment filled with marble-topped tables and plenty of art on the walls by the likes of Yoshimoto Nara, KAWS, and even Banksy and Andy Warhol. (Inquire after a piece if you’re interested in it — many of them are for sale.) Most of the coffee, including espresso, single origins, and filter coffee, is sourced from Melbourne’s Seven Seeds fresh every week, although other varieties are available, too. There’s also a comprehensive menu, featuring dishes like pasta, breakfast plates, sandwiches, and even meat and seafood dishes.

100 Belcher’s Street, Kennedy Town, 2149-9633.

Winston’s Coffee

By day, the convivial Winstons Coffee serves up Allpress Coffee made with a La Marzocco machine accompanied by pies, baps, toasties and cakes. By night, expect craft beers, bar bites, and cocktails — including the cafe’s signature Espresso Martinis. Winstons Coffee’s look is instantly memorable, with striking black walls and black and white checkered floors. The K Town location is right across from the district’s “stone wall” trees.

Shop 8, The Hudson, 11 Davis Street, Kennedy Town.

Waffling Beans

As its name might suggest, Waffling Beans is the place to go for waffles — particularly Belgian liege waffles. Sweet toppings include an array of fruit and ice cream, while if you’re in a savory mood you can go for salmon, avocado, pulled pork, bacon, eggs Benedict, or even fried chicken. Other Western dishes such as sandwiches and salads are available, too. The food is accompanied by a selection of coffee, tea, shakes and juices.

G/F, Shop 9, New Fortune House, 4-8 North Street, Kennedy Town, 2855-8890.
