Earlier this year, the Hong Kong government announced that permanent residents over the age of 18 would be able to claim a one-time HK$10,000 handout with the intention of providing relief and giving the local economy a boost. And now the details for how to register have been released.
If you register online through one of the 21 participating banks between June 21 and 30, you can look forward to seeing the cash in your bank account as soon as the following week.
If you’d rather fill in a paper registration form, simply download it from the websites of the banks, the Hongkong Post, or the scheme itself, but expect to receive your deposit a little later.
Finally, you can also request a check instead of a bank deposit by submitting an electronic form at the Hongkong Post website, or a paper form at the Hongkong Post. You can then collect your check at the post office.
Registration closes on December 31, 2020. Find out more about the scheme at its website.
