What’s it called? The Grounds

What’s it all about? Tucked under the harbourfront observation wheel in the AIA Vitality Park, The Grounds is the ultimate entertainment experience for the COVID era. Essentially, it’s a socially-distance cinema where viewers sit in ‘pods’ or two or four deck chairs set 1.5 meters apart. Of course, being an outdoor cinema, food is definitely encouraged – you can order popcorn and drinks from The Grounds Bar, or – if you need a heftier meal – you can order food from BaseHall through your phone and have it delivered right to your pod. Yes, that means you can enjoy tacos, laksa, burgers, and so much more while watching the film. Right now, The Grounds is screening a series of classic nostalgia films from the ’80s and early ’90s – think Top Gun and Back to the Future, and hosting wellness activities like yoga and fitness classes and the Iris Festival. Get in quick though – the space may shut down in January.
