What’s it called? Hong Kong Whistle 吹啤啤
What’s it all about? A boutique brewery founded in 2016, Hong Kong Whistle makes small-batch craft beers in its local factory. All of its creations have a unique Hong Kong flavor, from the inspiration, ingredients, and down to the naming. The brand uses local ingredients to ferment its brews, such as the sweet and sour dried plum and Chinese herb banlangen! Each flavor is based on a character: the malty, caramel-y red ale is inspired by a red minibus driver, a nod to the overwhelming sensation many experiences on a red minibus. Don’t miss out on their signature semi-dry apple cider, which is made from apples bought from the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market and then peeled and juiced by hand. They recently opened a retail shop in Kwai Chung, which stocks their beers as well as their kombucha.
Where is it? Kwai Chung shop: C119, 2/F, Kwai Chung Plaza, 7-11 Kwai Foo Road, Kwai Chung; Online: HKTVMall, Guru Guru HK, foodpanda, UberEats
