[Update Sep 2019: Soho House is now open! Those interested in joining should try to befriend some existing members…]

Soho House Hong Kong has been in the works for some time, and now, this private members’ club is gearing up to open its doors in September 2019.

Those in the creative industries will probably have heard much about the fanfare surrounding this private members’ club’s Hong Kong opening, which will take up a 28-story building in Sheung Wan.

So what can you expect Soho House’s 25th opening — its first in East Asia? Much like clubs in cities across the world, Soho House Hong Kong looks to be a chic space that will boast plenty of facilities for members.

Aside from a dedicated members’ bar and club space, there’ll be a swim-up bar and a BBQ grill, complete with lounge furniture. Elsewhere, the House Brasserie offers Soho House signature dishes, along with Hong Kong classics like dim sum and siu mei.

You’ll also find a drawing room, a three-floor space housing the Soho Active gym, a yoga studio, steam and sauna rooms and a space dedicated to HIIT. Then there are nine floors of Soho Works, providing work and meeting spaces for members.

Finally, its ground floor will offer shopping from Soho House’s own labels: interior brand Soho Home, and beauty brand Cowshed.

Unlike locations in other cities, there will be no hotel rooms here, however.

Targeting bright young things in the creative industries, Soho House is known for attracting celebrities and the glitterati — think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Leonardo DiCaprio and Oprah Winfrey. Founded by entrepreneur Nick Jones, its first club opened in London back in 1995, and has now expanded its footprint to more than 20 locations, with West Hollywood, Amsterdam and Istanbul among them.

Yet despite the big names that frequent its clubs, Soho House prides itself for providing a comfortable home from home for a community of like-minded people. Members’ events program will feature film, music, fashion, art, design and wellness.

With the upcoming opening of the Hong Kong location, membership applicants can opt for a “local house” membership, which grants access to Soho House Hong Kong; or an “every house” membership, which gets you into clubs around the world with discount offers. Soho Active and Soho Works in Hong Kong can be accessed at additional cost.
