On Sogo’s 11/F is Japanese bookseller Asahiya Bookstore, which has been selling Japanese books, magazines and comic books for 28 years. The bookshop announced last week that it will be closing its doors on August 31.

The bookshop is one of Hong Kong’s very few shops that offer a wide range of fashion magazines, specialty magazines on trains and watches, comic books and more. They also offer ordering services for Japanese magazines and books that are not on their catalogue.

Another Japanese bookshop Takafumido Book Store will take its place and open in September 2021.
