Kung Hei Fat Choy! While we love receiving lai see, or red pockets, the demand for new red envelopes envelopes inevitably means the chopping down of trees. But there’s a better way to continue the tradition while protecting the environment: we can reuse our lai see envelopes.

Greeners Action has been organizing the Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program since 2010. After Chinese New Year, they collect used lai see and redistribute them the following year. This year, the organization has set up over 350 collection points, from cosmetic shop SaSa Retail Stores to major shopping malls such as K11 Musea, Hysan Place and Pacific Place. A full list of collection points here.

You can bring your used lai sees to the collection points from now until March 3.
