The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has been upgrading the existing community recycling facilities and working to expand coverage to all 18 districts by the end of 2020. Many of these new facilities are now in operation. To encourage the usage of these facilities, the EPD has recently launched the GREEN$ incentive scheme, which allows the public to earn reward points by bringing in your recyclables, and use the points to redeem gifts!

A GREEN$ smart card

The new network of recycling facilities GREEN@COMMUNITY comprises of nine recycling stations, 22 recycling stores — which now offers night-time self-service recycling — more than 100 recycling spots and mobile collection vehicles. The network receives a variety of recyclables including waste paper, metals, plastics, glass bottles, electrical and electronic equipment, small electrical appliances, rechargeable batteries, and fluorescent lamps and tubes. To register for a GREEN$ smart card, drop off no less than 2kg of recyclables at any recycling facility. Show your smart card next time you bring in your recyclables, and you’ll earn GREEN$ points, which can be used to redeem gifts consisting mainly of daily necessities and eco-products such as bamboo pulp tissue paper and eco-bags.

There’s a special offer available from now until November 30. Simply drop off 1kg of recyclables, and you’re eligible to sign up for a GREEN$ card. You can also earn extra GREEN$ points during the promotional period!
