What do you do?

We supply plant-based disposable food packaging that is complete plastic-free, via the Hong Kong arm of Vegware.

Disposable food packaging is inevitable in Hong Kong and many other countries. We believe in recyclable, renewable resources and avoid products that require oil for production, especially in food packaging.

How does your business work?

We promote sustainable plant-base packaging to F&B outlets, like restaurants and hotels. We also provide free eco-audits to our clients based on carbon footprints, virgin materials used, and finite resources saved by using our packaging.

How did you get started? 

I’ve always wanted to create or introduce a brand to Hong Kong. A friend was visiting Hong Kong and she saw all the plastic, conventional packaging that was used here, and she mentioned plant-based packaging in Europe and how people were promoting and supporting green products. I knew right away that that was the type of business I wanted to introduce here.

Who are your customers?

Our customers are mainly B2B like restaurants and member clubs. We are currently working on corporate-level clients.

Can you give us a rundown of a day in your working life? 

I start my day around 6am or 7am and will go for a quick run to clear my mind, set an agenda and get ready for the day. I like to spend quality time with my team on client updates and operational planning.

We find it fun to meet with new clients to figure out which restaurants they are running, so we can add them to our lunch bucket list.

I try to leave work early, around 7pm or 8pm. I need a balanced lifestyle between work, friends and family.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

Our UK team is very involved in knowledge sharing, community funding, and we would like to mirror the same in Hong Kong. We’ve run the business for two years now and there are students and corporate clients who are very keen on green packaging. Our goal is to gain more market share and create a strong tie between Vegware and green packaging so that people would know they are dealing with plant-based, plastic-free packaging when they see Vegware.
