A household name in Hong Kong and queen of Canto pop, Anita Mui was a cultural icon during the eighties and nineties. Born in 1963, Mui began singing performing at the age of four, gradually fighting her way to bigger and bigger stages throughout her life.
Mui’s life also bore witness to Hong Kong’s most prosperous times in the eighties and nineties, where the economy soared and everything felt possible. The biopic follows Mui’s life starting the the age of four, until her untimely death in 2003.
Directed by Longman Leung, the film also recreates painstakingly the city’s streetscapes from the 60s to 80s. You will also be able to enjoy Mui’s best-known tunes, and her most famous performances.
