Creative Dim Sum: Hong Kong dim sum gets a makeover at YUM CHA. This Tsim Sha Tsui establishment eschews tradition for squidgy oozy steamed buns and then some.
Look & Feel: It’s all golden birdcages and Scandinavian-style light wood chairs at YUM CHA — or in other words: not quite your average Chinese teahouse.
On the Menu: Dim sum, reinvented. Lava custard bao are given anthropomorphic qualities (eyes and mouth, or piggy ears) for maximum squeezing pleasure, and egg tarts are infused with apple and roselle.
Meet the Chef: Chef Winson Yip created the irresistible shiitake truffle steamed bao for Social Place, and now he’s working hard creating even more outrageous dishes for YUM CHA.
Great For: Yum cha lor.
FYI: YUM CHA has a no-msg policy.
