Duck, Duck, Fish: Maxim’s Group is at it again — this time, it’s a modern Chinese establishment specializing in Huaiyang and Beijing-style cuisine at Elements mall in West Kowloon.

Look & Feel: A fresh seafood counter stocking products from around the world is a highlight at The Pond. There’s a giant wall mural of a duck getting chummy with a fish — the two animals are both feature items on the menu. The decor is ambiguously modern, with Chinese touches here and there.

On the Menu: Signatures include an updated version of Peking duck wrapped in iceberg lettuce; and a steamed golden eye snapper with black beans and chili. Dumplings and fusion-y dishes like ma po fries make up the snacks section. The bar also offers vermouth-based and other strong cocktails to go with the food.

Great For: Group gatherings, a big meal, any time really.

FYI: The restaurant also serves dishes from other regions like Sichuan.
