Pie in the Sky: Beloved homegrown pie purveyor Tai Tai Pie Pies takes another crack at opening its own outlet following the closure of its 2014 Wan Chai location. This time, The Pie and Beer Shack is offering the full gamut of its baked goods, alongside beers by Gweilo Beer, in the heart of Causeway Bay.
Look & Feel: Tucked onto a side street off of Hoi Ping Road, The Pie and Beer Shack is a modest yet cozy space comprised of a takeout counter and a few seats. Look for the eye-catching “COFFEE” sign above.
On the Menu: You’ll be able to tuck in to Tai Tai Pie Pie’s full menu of sweet and savory pies here, from steak and Guinness and Shephard’s pie to apple crumble and pecan pie, all in convenient individual portions.
Meet the Chef: Hailing from Illinois, USA, chef and owner R. J. Asher grew up on mouthwatering home cooked pastries, but it wasn’t until later in life that he recognized his own culinary aspirations. Originally coming from a corporate background, he was transferred to Hong Kong for business, and decided to follow his passion for baking and open Tai Tai Pie Pies a few years later.
Great For: Satisfying that sweet tooth or comfort food craving.
FYI: Tai Tai Pie Pies is also available through The Pie Factory in Fo Tan, Great food hall in Pacific Place, and its online store, of course.
