From the American South: No need to choose between Cajun (rustic) and Creole (urban) at The Parish on Staunton Street — you can have both, and then some, at this restaurant specializing in Southern-style cuisine.

Look & Feel: Think Beyonce’s Lemonade aesthetics, with The Parish’s bare walls and imposing chandeliers giving the space a slightly dilapidated (in a good way?) and haunting mood.

On the Menu: All the classics, from Southern fried chicken to corn bread to jambalayas to crayfish to ribs to good ol’ mac ‘n’ cheese, are featured on the main menu. For dessert, it’s key lime pie and, well, lots more other pies.

Meet the Chef: Chef Jack Carson is from New Orleans himself, and used to run popular and similarly themed restaurant Restoration on Wyndham Street.

Great For: A hearty meal, group gatherings.

FYI: The Parish is part of Enoteca Group.
