Japanese-French Steaks: The restaurant formerly known as Wagyu Takumi is now Takumi by Daisuke Mori.

Look & Feel: The intimate fine-dining establishment in Wan Chai seats only 12 diners, and stainless steel and marble elements dominate the setting.

On the Menu: Japanese wagyu is what you come for at Takumi by Daisuke Mori. The signature beef is presented perfectly marbled before being slow-cooked on a binchotan (white coal) grill, then seared on a high-heat hot grill. The animals come from all across Japan: Saga in the south, Sendai in the north, and Hida in the central region. Lunch and dinner tasting menus are available. While lunch menus hover around $700 mark, we’re talking $2,000-plus eight-course dinner menus at night.

Meet the Chef: French-trained Japanese -native chef Daisuke Mori had worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in France and Japan before settling in Hong Kong.

Great For: An extravagant gathering.

FYI: The restaurant is by Lai Sun Dining, which manages more than a dozen other venues across the city
