More Than Pizza: Bringing a touch of Tuscan flavors to Hong Kong, Spiga is the city’s latest Italian restaurant. Here you’ll find extravagant dishes with authentic flavors, courtesy of Michelin-honored chef Enrico Bartolini.
Look & Feel: The lavishly decorated space by Hong Kong designer Joyce Wang (who’s also responsible for Mott 32 and Rhoda’s interiors) is inspired by the landscapes of Italy and takes after a 1950s theme: piazzas and olive gardens are recreated here while posh furniture and vintage lighting are dotted around throughout the space.
Meet the Chef: Enrico Bartolini is hailed as one of Italy’s most promising chefs. He runs Bergamo and Castiglione della Pescaia in Milan, which both received Michelin stars within a few months of opening. Although this is his first venture in Hong Kong, he also used to consult for Caine Road’s Venetian joint, Sepa.
On the Menu: Bartolini has a tasting menu up his sleeve — it’s all Italian classics like osso buco Milanese veal shanks and vitello tonnato, a Piedmont specialty featuring sliced veal in a thick sauce flavored with tuna.
Great For: All-out birthday/anniversary parties, impressing a high-strung date.
FYI: Spiga is operated by Dining Concepts, which has rolled out a bunch of exciting bars and restaurants of late — including ALTO and Iron Fairies.
