Use Your Noodle: Great news for the office workers of Central and Sheung Wan. Wan Chai neighborhood fave Samsen has opened up a second branch in Sheung Wan. But whereas the original specializes in Thai boat noodles, the new joint will focus on khao soi, or curried beef and fresh egg noodles that originate from the north of Thailand.
Look & Feel: The vibe of the new place is cut from the same cloth as the original branch. Expect a rustic decor paying tribute to the traditional shophouses of Bangkok.
On the Menu: Aside from khao soi ($148), diners will also find a couple more curry dishes on offer — smashed prawn and betel leaf curry ($148) and spiced yellow chicken curry and potatoes ($138). There’s a variety of Thai classics elsewhere on the menu, including the likes of smoky eggplant and tiger prawn salad ($122), fried red curry fish cakes ($88).
Meet the Chef: Adam Cliff worked at Chachawan before striking out on his own to open Samsen.
