Welcome to the newest tea destination in Hong Kong – Plantation Tea Bar. Founded by Nana Chan, the mastermind behind the iconic teakha café, this tea haven in Sai Ying Pun is a must-visit for tea enthusiasts and curious sippers alike.
Look & Feel: As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a contemporary yet raw and elegant aesthetic that exudes warmth and calmness. Inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, Plantation Tea Bar showcases the beauty in imperfection and transience. The 12-seat stone counter takes center stage, where tea masters will take you on a monthly-changing, four-course journey through the diverse world of tea, accompanied by perfectly paired snacks to enhance the flavor experience.
On the Menu: The inaugural set tasting menu, “Coming Home,” pays homage to founder Nana Chan’s roots, featuring three Taiwanese oolongs presented in different forms. You’ll start with a trio of cold-brew shots, followed by a hot-brewed Alishan High Mountain Oolong paired with almond cookies, a sparkling cold-brew Osmanthus Oolong poured over Taiwanese aiyu jelly with osmanthus honey and salted pear, and finally, a hot-brewed Red Oolong infused with cacao and toasted barley, paired with Taiwanese Fuwan Chocolate.
If you’re not in the mood for a set menu, no worries! Plantation Tea Bar offers an a la carte menu with over 20 teas to choose from, and you can order tea by the pot. You can also indulge in nostalgic snacks from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China, such as the traditional date and walnut pastilles and savory seaweed crackers.
Beyond the delectable menu, Plantation Tea Bar is a perfect spot for catching up with friends and family. You can sit in the separate tatami seating area and enjoy a relaxed conversation over a cup of tea. And, if you fall in love with any of the teas, you can purchase them at the retail counter. Plantation by Teakha’s signature teas, such as Rice Scent Aged Puerh and Wild Purple Tea Buds, are available, along with new-to-market teas like Dancong Red, a fragrant black tea with a sweet taste.
Great For: Plantation Tea Bar is the perfect spot to indulge in a cup of tea, enjoy a snack, and catch up with friends and family. The contemporary aesthetics, delectable menu, and commitment to sustainability make it a must-visit spot in Hong Kong.
