Coastal Italian: The newest addition to the Black Sheep Restaurants stable is Osteria Marzia, a charming, coastal Italian eatery whose nautical design and seafood-heavy menu will make you feel as though you’ve been transported to the shores of southern Italy.
Look & Feel: Located on the ground floor of boutique hotel The Fleming, Osteria Marzia might be in a quieter area of Wan Chai, but it’s is by no means unassuming. Hong Kong-based design firm Substance did the interiors, which feature a chic take on the nautical theme. Think bright blue tiles, soaring double-height ceilings with floor to ceiling windows, lots of light woods, and orb-like pendant lights wrapped in fisherman’s net.
On the Menu: The restaurant specializes in dishes from the southern Italian coast —think Sicily, the Amalfi Coast, Puglia, Sardinia. This means plenty of seafood served with little fuss, letting the food speak for itself. Try the hamachi crudo ($228) or the asparagus lasagne ($268). The gelato ($88) is smooth and delicious.
Meet the Chef: Italian chef Luca Marinelli previously worked in the kitchens of the Buenos Aires Polo Club before joining Osteria Marzia, and has worked under Mauro Uliassi.
FYI: An antipasti spread is available during lunch time at the bar ($178) with the option of adding a primi piatti ($48), secondi piatti ($88)and fresh daily gelato ($28).
