The Best of Southeast Asia: The award-winning chef behind Mama San, Will Meyrick, is back at it again with his second Southeast Asian restaurant Monsoon.
Look & Feel: Located in Elements mall in West Kowloon, Monsoon is a chic yet casual space that incorporates Art Deco and colonial design elements. There’s a private dining room and bar in addition to the spacious main dining area.
On the Menu: Expect comfort food classics like pho, satay, fried rice, and curries with an elegant, contemporary twist accompanied by sumptuous cocktails.
Meet the Chef: Well-known for his take on Asian cuisine, Will Meyrick’s career took him through London, Sydney, Bali, and finally Hong Kong. He worked in the kitchens of Longrain and Jimmy Liks in Sydney before opening successful restaurants like Sarong and Hujan Locale in Bali.
Head chef Gede Budiana, meanwhile, takes care of the day to day. Having worked with chef Meyrick for 17 years, he’s an expert in Indonesian and Southeast Asian food in his own right — particularly street food favorites.
FYI: Watch out for the upcoming “Monsoon at Home”, a video series of online cooking demonstrations by chef Meyrick that’ll air on Monsoon’s social media channels.
