Mama Knows Best: Surprise, surprise — there’s another new restaurant in K-Town. This time, it’s Mama Malouf, a Lebanese joint that’s a sister establishment to popular brunch spot Catch.

Look & Feel: An intimate space, Mama Malouf is decked out with a simple, homely decor. The restaurant sits right by Catch (and actually used to be the second half of Catch), and though it’s on a busy street full of bars and restaurants, you can’t miss it.

Meet the Chef: Alex Malouf, who runs Catch, is nephew to Australian-born Lebanese chef Greg Malouf, who’s widely regarded as an authority on Middle Eastern cuisine — so you know you’re getting the real deal right here.

On the Menu: Middle Eastern classics made for sharing dominate the menu. The mama’s mezze is a platter of baba ghanoush, hummus, mixed olives and pickles, cucumber and tarragon labne. There are also meat skewers (chicken, lamb), and of course, the holy grail of Middle Eastern food, falafel.

Great For: Big group outings.

FYI: Mama Malouf pays tribute to none other than the owner’s mother, who ran a Lebanese restaurant in Melbourne.
