French Allure: Among the throngs of bars on Wyndham Street, you’ll find Le Boudoir hidden on basement level right by sister venue Pastis. The bar is opened by French Creations, which is also behind the likes of French American Bistro, St. Germain and Metropolitain. This dark, glamorous watering hole offers creative, well-made cocktails in a sophisticated setting.

Look & Feel: Decked out Belle Époque style, Le Boudoir is modeled after a the lady of the manor’s private dressing room. Thick, red wallpaper lines the walls, creating an elegant and throw-back vibes with timeless appeal. Velvet sofas and crystal chandeliers add to the ladylike atmosphere.

On the Menu: Picky drinkers will be pleased to know that Le Boudoir boasts more than a dozen cocktails to choose from. The Boudoir’s Secret ($110) is a lighter creation made with French bitters Suze, yellow chartreuse liqueur, passion fruit, lime and orgeat syrup, while the Cabo San Lucky ($120) is a potent mix of Tequila Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado and creole shrub liqueur topped with lime, balsamic vinegar and figs, packs a punch.

Service: The orders come pretty quickly, which is always nice so you can get right back to conversations.

Jeng: Le Boudoir’s sexy, low-key vibe and tasty cocktails are a great alternative to its neighboring bars that pump out loud music and Jagerbombs. The cocktails are well-balanced and made with surprising flavor combinations, which we appreciate after a bland Carlsberg down the road.

Not So Jeng: The small space and low ceiling at dimly lit Le Boudoir can be a bit claustrophobic for some, but others appreciate the intimacy.

Great For: Date night, pre-dinner cocktails, girl’s night.

FYI: Le Boudoir has a happy hour on weeknights (except Wednesday) from 6pm-9pm — it’s a buy-one-get-one-free deal on selected cocktails. Plus, a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne is $500, while two bottles will set you back $700.
