[Update: Juhu Beach Club is closed]
Next-level Indian: Look out for a new “beach club” in SoHo, which mixes up California-style Indian and aims to please with fresh, trend-defying flavors.
Look & Feel: Nope, sorry, no beach in sight. Designed by Candace Campos – who also did NEO, Fatty Crab and Tate Dining Room & Bar – Juhu Beach Club brings her talent to the table here, creating a contemporary vibe complete with nostalgic 60s prints and clean, green surrounds.
On the Menu: It’s a showdown between the street food of Mumbai and comfort food of California. The unlikely combination is hard to pin down: a mix of the chef-owner’s multicultural heritage and European training results in curries, house-made chutneys, sandwiches, salads, and “Pavs” aka Indian-inspired sliders. The bar menu includes a quirky mix of California wine, Indian craft beer, American beer, and spice-packed cocktails.
Meet the Chef: Chef Preeti Mistry is the brains behind the culinary concept.
Great For: Casual bites, healthy lunches, after-work drinks, cravings for something new.
FYI: The idea started in San Francisco as a pop-up shop and has come all the way to Hong Kong. And what’s with the name? The restaurant borrows it from Juhu Beach in Mumbai.
