Speakeasy in Central: Another new speakeasy, this time with gourmet hot dogs and a cheeky name to go along. The name “I Know John” is a play on the need to know the right people in order to gain access to Prohibition-era speakeasies, back in the day when passwords weren’t posted to Facebook.

Look & Feel: This is no tiny drinking den. I Know John stretches across 1,800-square-feet so there’s a bit more elbow room than your typical Central watering hole. The interiors come with splashes of charcoal, a bit of brick, leather couches, and a 16-foot-long bar made of wood.

On the Menu: It’s an American-inspired experience from the sounds of it — picture hard-to-find wines, niche whiskies, rejigged classic cocktails, cheese, charcuterie. And did we mention the gourmet hot dogs? There are four kinds, including an intriguing “French Onion Dog” — and they all start from $88.

Great For: Relaxing tipples, quality drinks, a secret rendezvous with your friend John.
