LKF Hangout: Singaporean partyhouse CÉ LA VI — formerly known as Ku De Ta, but not to be confused with the completely unrelated Balinese institution of the same name — has taken up three stories at the new California Tower.
Look & Feel: CÉ LA VI is exactly as you’d expect an establishment smack in the middle of LKF to be: swank and unabashedly extravagant. There are references to ancient Southeast Asian culture in the form of intricate woodwork on the walls and ceilings, balanced out by contemporary sprouting vertical gardens. There are three separately themed floors: the dining room at the bottom, the lounge one level up, and the sky garden rooftop terrace.
On the Menu: The drinks here alone make up a 20-page menu, and include cocktails, digestifs, beers and spirits by the bottle. There are also lots of Asian tapas and seafood and meat dishes for nibbles or dinner.
Service: Expect to get pampered by the professional staff here.
Jeng: The views at CÉ LA VI are amazing, and drinks like the Bourbon Smash (Michter’s, ginger juice, citrus fruits, $118) hit all the right notes. The desserts by pastry chef Jason Licker are out of this world. Don’t leave without trying the Matcha molten green tea tart ($118).
Not So Jeng: Nothing here comes cheap.
Great For: A decadent evening, a weekend party, night of loud, pumpin’ music.
FYI: CÉ LA VI also offers an impressive roster of local and international DJs. Residents include Yeodie, Mistrezz C and Roy Malig.
