Carbs Galore: From the same brains behind cult classic Cookie DPT, CARBS is the founder’s venture into indulgent American pizzas. The feel-good joint also comprises mac and cheese, milkshakes, homemade dips and more. If you’re not already fawning over the mouthwatering Instagram posts, well, you’re in for a treat.

Look & Feel: CARBS takes over what was previously The Chicken Bar at H-CODE. It’s small and there’s nothing fancy about it – but it’s not meant to be. Swing by and take your pick of dine-in delights or takeout, best enjoyed in group settings.

On the Menu: If you’re on a diet, don’t go here unless it’s treat day. That’s because there’s no holding back on cheese, juicy meat and of course, carbs. Expect hefty, delicious options to eat any time of the day. The deep-dish, Detroit-inspired square pizzas are uniquely sandwiched with cheese below the toppings to separate between sauce and crust – so that you can enjoy the best of both. Spicy pepperoni ($50 per slice) is a must and add on the Supreme Square (HK$50 per slide) for seconds.

Cheese lovers also have to try the mac and cheese ($88) for a creamy, scrumptious melt-in-your-mouth experience. Not your typical fast food, the spicy vodka fusilli ($108) was a surprising highlight and something that we’ll be returning for alone. Fulfill childhood cravings with the wide selection of milkshakes or go for a refreshing lemonade ($35) so you’re not overwhelmingly full by the end of the meal. Just kidding, you will be anyway. But it’s worth it!

Jeng: The pizza is what will make this joint famous and we haven’t seen many Detroit-style pizzas in the city yet until recently. The best way to enjoy CARBS is to share a selection of slices as well as portions of pasta and side dishes – we’re eyeing the tater tots too.

Not So Jeng: As mentioned, it is a very small bolthole location meaning it’s likely to get busy fast. Get here early and nab a table quickly to save yourself the frustration later.

Great For: Casual hangouts and indulgent treat-day food.
