Thai Out West: Old-school establishment Café Siam has branched out to Kennedy Town. The restaurant’s extensive menu features all of the classic Thai staples, along with uniquely concocted dishes and drinks that are exclusive to the new location.
Look & Feel: With simple and homely touches, the restaurant gives off a cozy yet stylish vibe.
Meet the Chef: Head chef Phimgoen Somchai runs the kitchen at Café Siam.
On the Menu: Both carnivores and vegetarians are spoilt for choice as the lunch and dinner menus offer a variety of curries, meat, seafood, salads and soup-based pick-me-ups. Signature dishes include the roast duck in red curry with grapes; prawn cakes served with a sweet plum sauce; and the spicy drunken fried noodles. Café Siam shakes up traditional cocktails by adding a Thai twist to them — think Singapore Sling with Mekhong spirit. Alcohol-free options include homemade ginger ale and coconut lychee smoothies.
Great For: Catching up with a group of friends, after-work drinks and snacks.
FYI: Café Siam’s LKF branch is the only Thai restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide for Hong Kong.
