Cafe Joo, the first contemporary Korean restaurant by LUBUDS, has opened its doors in Shatin’s New Town Plaza Phase 1. The restaurant’s bright and minimalist decor, combined with its innovative Korean menu crafted by local Western cuisine-trained chef Ken Lau, sets it apart from the crowd.
Look & Feel: Cafe Joo’s decor is reminiscent of modern Korean cafe aesthetics, with a minimalist approach that adds to the restaurant’s airy and inviting atmosphere. The main interior dining area features a light wood grain and soft lighting, making it a comfortable and unpretentious environment for guests to sit and relax. The outdoor seating area is surrounded by lush green plants, adding to the fresh and welcoming aesthetic of the restaurant.
On the Menu: Chef Ken’s innovative menu reinterprets traditional Korean snacks and introduces a range of Korean-inspired dishes made with carefully sourced premium ingredients and homemade sauces. One of the standout dishes is the Korean Fried Chicken, which uses Yellow Hair Chicken and Italian techniques traditionally used in turkey preparation to achieve next-level moisture retention and juiciness. The Deep Fried Korean Style Kimbap and Cheongyang Chili Pepper stuffed with Cheese Sausage are also surprising new creations that break away from tradition.
Additionally, Chef Ken combines the best of Korean and Italian cuisines to design a range of gastronomic main dishes at affordable prices, such as the Jeju Stir-fried Octopus With Squid Ink Sauce and Roasted Tiger Prawn With Kimchi Cream Sauce. The dessert and beverage menu is equally impressive, with homemade desserts, coffees, and signature drinks.
Great For: Cafe Joo is perfect for those looking for a modern and innovative take on Korean cuisine. The restaurant’s inviting atmosphere and affordable prices make it a great spot for casual dining with friends and family. The menu also offers a range of vegetarian options, making it a great choice for vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
Cafe Joo offers a unique and innovative take on Korean cuisine, combined with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for casual dining. Chef Ken’s use of refined Western cooking styles to reinterpret popular Korean street food and traditional dishes makes for an exciting and delicious dining experience.
