Small Plates, Big Appetite: Tapas restaurant and bar Brut! is the newest addition to Sai Ying Pun’s ever-expanding dining scene, offering up delicious sharing plates and wines amidst warm, casual surroundings.

Look & Feel: Tucked onto Second Street in Sai Ying Pun, Brut! is an intimate space with a trendy yet homey vibe — think menus scribbled onto blackboard walls and glass jars of spices and fruits and grains lining the shelves. Two long wooden tabletops and a bar put sharing plates first.

On the Menu: The team behind the restaurant developed its menu after spending months researching and sourcing sustainable ingredients from Northern Spain. The result is a comprehensive menu of tapas created using meats from small, family-run farms in Spain and local produce from the nearby Sai Ying Pun market. Galican beef tenderloin with baby spinach ($248), buffalo mozzarella, kalamata olive tapenade and fried enoki mushrooms ($98) and smoked eggplants and vegetables ($58) pair with natural wines and creative cocktails such as the Sichuan Pepper Old Fashioned and homemade Kombucha cocktails.

Great For: A low-key night out away from the buzzing crowds of Central or Wan Chai.

FYI: You’ll find plenty of vegetarians and even vegan options here, so the herbivores among your friends will be able to enjoy an array of options amidst all the meat and seafood.
