High-quality, authentic Italian cuisine for all: Landed at Star Street in the second half on January 2023 is Ask for Alonzo’s fifth outlet, spreading sublime yet approachably priced Italian dishes to the wider Hong Kong Island neighborhood. Apart from well-loved staples such as Alonzo’s Carbonara, Ravioli Fiorentina and Rigatoni Amatriciana, an exclusive menu of pastas and mains await — more on these house specials in the coming paragraphs.

Look & feel: This all-day-dining destination extends its opening arms via an airy, spacious storefront amidst the bustling streets of Wan Chai (ask for the semi-alfresco seats if you want to immerse yourself into the city). Once you set foot inside, an industrial-centric interior championing concrete and wood textures instantly makes you feel at home. If you need a textbook demonstration of what a modern, trendy paste house is like, head to Ask for Alonzo.

On the menu: Being the franchise’s fifth location in the city doesn’t mean you’re not in for a surprise when you do drop by — reserving a feeling of uniqueness and exclusivity for each of its outlets, Ask for Alonzo on Star Street hosts a specially designed menu never seen in its predecessors. For example, save your appetite for Spiralotti ‘Nduja Salami ($168), where spicy salami and sun-dried tomatoes from Italy’s “sun-baked” Calabria region are balanced with ricotta cheese to bring out its fiery chilliness. Other notable dishes include Squid Ink Linguine ($188), Prawn & Asparagus Risotto ($168), Sea Bream Fillet ($188) and Penne alla Vodka ($148).

Happy hour is also a time to savor in Ask for Alonzo, where an exquisite aperitivo menu of signature Italian cocktails, beers, house wines and bar bites is available at a starting price of $48 from 3pm until 8pm. However, the occasion you truly don’t want to miss will be the exclusive Uncle Tony’s weekend set brunch, where you enjoy a range of great bites at $298 with a generous free-flow package priced at $198.
