Salute! The newest addition to The Monterey Place in Tseung Kwan O is Amare Bistro & Wine, a classic Italian eatery that focuses on traditional fare from the Romagna region.

Look & Feel: Sitting between the swish Monterey residential complex and verdant Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Park, Amare Bistro & Wine is elegant and contemporary indoors — think gold details, sculptural lighting, and plenty of leather seating — and spacious and casual outdoors with a great view of the sea.

On the Menu: The menu features pastas, pizzas and meat dishes from Romagna along Italy’s northern Adriatic coast as well as simple small bites. Black truffle carbonara spaghetti ($148), parma ham pizza ($138), and Barolo-braised beef cheek ($168) feature on the main menu while meatballs, mini burgers and cold cut platters ($88-$168) are available on the snack menu. Ingredients are often imported directly from Italy, of course.

Meet the Chef: Also hailing from Romagna, Giovanni “Johnny” Tucci boasts a 40-year career whipping up dishes in Italian restaurants in his native Italy and beyond, including the kitchens of Hotel Sporting in Rimini.

Great For: Enjoying a convivial al fresco meal with the entire family.

FYI: Amare Bistro & Wine is the first restaurant venture of experienced Italian ingredient importer Lorence Group.
