Hong Kong’s Wong Chuk Hang district has a new culinary hotspot, and it’s bringing a slice of Los Angeles to the city’s food scene. 1st & Beaudry, owned by Westside Hospitality and led by Chef Esdras Ochoa, is a vibrant and exciting addition to the area, offering a melting pot of flavors that celebrate the diverse cultures that makeup LA’s culinary heritage.
Look & Feel: When you step into 1st & Beaudry, you’re transported to a corner of downtown LA. The restaurant’s hipster, relaxed vibe is complemented by art pieces dotted throughout the space, adding to the overall ambiance.
On the menu: 1st & Beaudry’s menu is a celebration of the unique culinary heritage of LA, showcasing a mix of authentic Mexican, Korean, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, and other cuisines. Modern American cuisine is infused with global flavors, creating a unique dining experience that’s sure to please even the most discerning foodies.
The Sunset Boulevard is a must-try dish, featuring creamy Hass avocado, charred zucchini, nutty far east grains, peppery red mizuna, and earthy beet carpaccio, all tossed together in a vibrant vegetable-forward salad. For something more comforting, try the M.B. Chowdah, a classic clam chowder served in a house-made sourdough bread bowl. Sandwich lovers will appreciate the Farmer Sarkis, which features fresh mozzarella paired with roasted farm veggies that are bursting with flavor, topped with pistachio pesto and sweet chipotle peach jam, all sandwiched between slices of hearty seven-grain bread made in-house.
No LA-inspired restaurant would be complete without tacos, and Chef Esdras’s innovative creations are a refreshing departure from traditional Mexican tacos. The Roy Garcia, with charred pork neck, the Baja Glitch, with crispy tempura-battered eggplant, and the East of Crenshaw, with ancho chili-spiced bluefin tuna, are all served on house-made nixtamalized blue corn tortillas that add an extra layer of authenticity.
For the ultimate LA experience, indulge in the off-menu Smashed Burger made with freshly ground beef, served on a house-made brioche bun with cheese and pickles. Served on “In-N-Out” trays, this nostalgic dish is a celebration of the city’s love for burgers. To enjoy this hidden gem, simply ask the kitchen for it.
Great For: 1st & Beaudry is the perfect destination for foodies looking for a unique and exciting dining experience. The restaurant is ideal for a leisurely brunch or a casual gathering with friends. With a menu that celebrates diversity, culture, and history, diners will leave with a deeper appreciation for the beauty of diversity and how it shapes the culinary world.
