Founded in 1993, the Hong Kong Film Archive in Sai Wan Ho is home to over 400,000 books, periodicals, and audio-visual materials dedicated to Hong Kong’s film industry. 1,000 of its titles were inherited from the TVB television network in 2011. The four-storey space collects and preserves everything film, from kung fu movies to dramas, and runs a number of exhibitions as well as screenings in its 125-seat cinema. It also edits book series and newsletters on filmography. Entry to the archive is free, while tickets to screenings are available for a small fee. Check the organization’s calendar of events to see what’s on.
