Surreal China: A 15 Year Journey is a solo exhibition by Chinese photographer Zhang Kechun that brings together a selection of images from three of his most renowned photographic series — The Yellow River, Between the Mountains and Water, and Chinese Landscapes. Best known for his large format photographs depicting magnificent landscapes of industrialized China, Zhang is an astute observer of the impact of economic reform and development has on the country. For The Yellow River series, he went on a four-year biking trip along the yellow river. Afterwards, Zhang traveled across China to document the process of urbanization on the land. The resulting dreamlike images often feature tiny figures, and man-made structures amidst impressive natural landscapes.
