Day by Day: Daily Practice, presented by Blindspot Gallery in collaboration with Art & Culture Outreach, is a solo exhibition by painter Yeung Tong Lung, one of the most important artists from Hong Kong. Known for his portrayals of small quotidian life, bright colors and warped perspective, Yeung is showcasing his most recent works from 2019 to 2020. The title “Daily Practice” refers to how Yeung sees his art as a lifelong daily “homework”, observing, experiencing and representing the things and people around him. You’ll find pieces that ruminate on time and history, such as Mount Davis (2020), a 4.5-meter-wide painting that stitches together historical scenes from different time period, as well as paintings that capture heartwarming moments, such as King of Siu Chao (2020) where employees at a dai pai dong are taking a break.
