Fighting: When it comes to martial arts, China is one of the first places that come to mind. But did you know Italy also has a rich warrior tradition? The upcoming “Way of the Sword: Warrior Traditions in China and Italy” mixed-media exhibition will examine China and Italy’s warrior traditions from the Classical era through the Early Modern Age. Over 50 historic swords and pole arms will be on display, as well as more than 20 martial art manuscripts dating back to the 16th century. Martial arts is, ultimately, a physical art form. To offer a similarly tactile and immersive experience, the exhibition has enlisted the expertise of City University of Hong Kong professor and new media curator Jeffrey Shaw to develop a wide range of interactive exhibits.
