Weaving Asia: The Centre for Heritage Arts & Textile (CHAT) invites 16 artists from around Asia to showcase their works in A Net (Dis)entangled from the Spinning East Asia Series. Expect a great number of the collection’s newly commissioned works inspired by the rich East Asian textile culture!

Fashion has been a form of art to respond to the times. But have you thought about how textiles, namely their materiality and associated techniques, could be woven into visual and installation arts with regards to the history that shapes the modern world? Curator Wang Wei Wei adopts the simultaneous actions of entangling and disentangling yarns as a metaphor to explore and reimagine the notion of East Asia. You might as well find your own answer to the question through the artists’ creative research of new artistic expression and experimentation.

Where? Centre for Heritage Arts & Textile, The Mills, 45 Pak Tin Par Street, Tsuen Wan

When? April 2 – August 7, 2022

How Much? Free!

FYI: Due to the current situation and government regulations, CHAT is closed until further notice. The Loop HK will keep you posted!
