An Introduction To Clarence: Clarence, which opened earlier this year, is Chef Olivier Elzer‘s new cooking concept at H Code, Central. Launching Somm Hour, Clarence is inviting guests on a wine tasting journey featuring 8 rotating wines, curated by Clarence’s Head Sommelier Zsolt Menku, this summer. For HK$1,490 per person, guests will get to enjoy three glasses of white wines and another three red, alongside a light menu including Cooked French White Ham with Baguette and Truffle Mayonnaise and the Clarence Hotdog with Lemon Relish Mustard.
If you are visiting on a Thursday, you will be presented a selection of wines from Burgundy, paying tribute to the Chef’s first Michelin star at Abbaye de La Bussière in the famed wine region. Guests will get to taste Henri Germain Aligoté 2019, which opens with a floral fragrant and evolves towards mineral hints and light more fruity references; Jean-Marc Vincent Montagny 1er Cru 2019, a medium to full-bodied wine that brings aromas of white flowers, lime zest, green pear and fresh pastry to your palate; and Génot-Boulanger Meursault “Clos du Cromin“ 2018, a lightly spiced wine imbued with the aromas of pineapple, tangerine and nectarine. And it comes the reds. Starting the journey with Jean Tardy Fixin 1er Cru « La Place » 2017, a silky, pure yet intense Pinot that opens your palate with the flavor of redcurrant, balanced with a subtle trace of oak. Guests will surely enjoy Henri Germain Beune 1er Cru « Bressandes » 2019 which flaunts the intense notes of raspberry, plum, and sweet spices with a noble touch of leather, before rounding off your evening with Daniel Rion Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru « Les Beaux-Monts » 2015, aged with silky tannins and floral notes of hawthorn, wild rose, violet, cherry and blackcurrant.
