Bloom City: Dutch visual artist Marcel Heijnen is best known for his photobooks about Hong Kong shop cats, in which he captures adorable tabby cats in street shops. Now he’s turned his focus onto flowers and urbanscape. Heignen collects wild flowers in Hong Kong, and creates photography that merges the petals and reflections of Hong Kong’s unique cityscape. By putting the two together, Heignen aims to capture change, showing that everything is a process and in continuous flux.
This new series “Bloom” is now on view at collaborative exhibition “Duet: Wabi-Sabi & Bloom“. Also featuring ceramic artist Terence Lee, the exhibition explores the Zen aesthetic of “Wabi-Sabi” in urban landscapes and daily objects.
