The New Normal: Giraffe Leung Lok Hei is a post-90s Hong Kong artist who often engages with everyday objects such as leaves and coins to create artwork addressing the city’s urban planning problems and the inevitable loss that comes with development. This past February, Leung went viral for his street art series “Paper over the cracks,” where he used yellow tapes to frame “vanished protest graffiti” — areas where paint was used to cover popular protest slogans or posters. This exhibition takes a closer look into Leung’s creative process over the last year, who’s been observing and reacting to the many changes in this city since last June.
