Back in Vogue: Back for its second edition this November, the Heritage Vogue · Hollywood Road 2018 street carnival is a one-day-only event designed to allow visitors to experience the rich history, built heritage and artistic ambiance of Hollywood Road.

The event is spearheaded by the Commissioner for Heritage’s Office in collaboration with the Antiques and Monuments Office, Tai Kwun, PMQ, Hong Kong Antique and Arts Galleries Association, and Arts in Heritage Research. Held on November 4, the street carnival will allow visitors to discover Hollywood Road’s rich heritage through a series of exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, and a night parade.

Tour Man Mo Temple with the Antiquities and Monuments Office.

Remember to pick up a route map to make the most of the experience! Specially developed for the carnival and designed by some of the talented students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Hong Kong, the route winds its way through some of the most historically significant spots in the district. You’ll explore the arts hub of Tai Kwun (the former Central Police Station Compound), check out the exhibitions and workshops along Hollywood Road, see Man Mo Temple, and check out the nostalgic market at PMQ (the former Police Married Quarters). For extra insight, jump onto one of the specialized, guided tours being run by the Antiquities and Monuments Office, including “A Stroll Around Historic Buildings” and “Discover the History of Hollywood Road at Night.”

Try on Cantonese opera costumes with Tai O Heritage Hotel.

Along the way, you’ll also come face-to-face with the representatives from the participating organizations under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme. See Action Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, try on Cantonese Opera Costumes with the Tai O Heritage Hotel, take a calligraphy workshop with Stone Houses Family Gardens, and participate in a number of fun DIY workshops with Jao Tsung-I academy.

See musical performers live, including Miriam and Chris.

Throughout the day, venues all along Hollywood Road will also be hosting a wide range of musical, dance and theater performances. Drop into Tai Kwun, PMQ, and the pop-up performance venues and marquees to see shows by the likes of Miriam and Chris, Opus a la carte Collective, and Patrick Liu & Friends.
