Southeast Asian Spice: A remnant of Hong Kong’s colonial past, afternoon teas are very much a thing in the city. But, these mid-afternoon treats often come loaded with sweet treats and tons of sugar. Not so the new afternoon tea offering at Monsoon, the Southeast Asian restaurant masterminded by chef Will Meyrick. This savory-heavy tea set includes a range of treats liberally flavored with the spices and flavors of Asia, from softshell crab rice paper rolls and caramelized pork belly to Dengdeng Belado spicy beef ribs and chicken and prawn balls with smoked chili mayo. Of course, there are some sweets, too, in the form of pandan custard cream puffs, chocolate coconut Aeros, and more. The Monsoon tea set includes two drinks – pick from a range of teas and coffees – and guests can add on signature drinks like the Betel Gin and Tonic.
